Arcjets     Arcjets are advanced Alacrian vehicles which formed the bulk of the ancient air forces. They are powered by electrically-ignited insendite-particulate propellant and pseudogravity fields, and all extant models are capable of hovering through the use of thrust-vectoring exhaust nozzles. Faster than any other type of aircraft and lacking the weaknesses of any, they are hideously expensive in the modern day; none of today's cultures have mastered their construction, meaning that every arcjet in use is a restored Alacrian model.

Pilot Competence     If the pilot of an arcjet lacks competence in arcjets, they can still operate the vehicle, but with the following effects:
    -The pilot must roll d12 on INT to take off. If failed, the aircraft immediately follows the rules for a crash landing.
    -The pilot cannot attack or strafe.
    -The vehicle's travel speed is reduced to 1/3.
    -Every landing, even on well-prepared airfields, must follow the rules for a crash landing. Any time the pilot would normally be required to make a crash landing, the aircraft is destroyed instead.

Maximum Cargo Weight & Takeoff Run     Unlike other aircraft, arcjets list three different maximum cargo weights. The first number is how much the aircraft can carry while still retaining the ability to hover, land and take off vertically, and move at SC0. If the cargo weight exceeds the first number, the aircraft must use a short takeoff run, following the same rules found in Propwings. If the cargo weight exceeds the second number, the aircraft must use a long takeoff run. For example, a listing of 2,000/3,000/5,000 means that the arcjet can hover with a cargo weight up to 2,000 pounds, needs a short takeoff run from 2,001-3,000 pounds, and a long takeoff run from 3,001-5,000 pounds.

Vertical Landing Areas     Arcjets loaded lightly enough to be able to hover can land anywhere there is sufficient space for the aircraft. This is generally possible anywhere within Terrain Ease 2 or greater (see Travel), some parts of TE1, and virtually nowhere in TE0. Even if a hovering arcjet is unable to land, it can drop ladders to receive characters on the ground if the vehicle lists side entry.
