Hovercraft     Hovercraft are Alacrian vehicles which float above the ground on a cushion of high-pressure air, which is contained by flexible skirts and/or strange energy fields. The most advanced hovercraft supplement this suspension with miniaturized airship gravnets. Propulsion is provided by blower fans or, for faster models, arcjet arrays. Terrifically expensive even in Alacrian times, hovercraft were relegated to elite skirmisher units and amphibious landing fleets. Compared to other vehicle types, they are limited in maximum weight, but can traverse water. Advanced models are far faster than even wheeled vehicles.

Driver Competence     If the driver of a hovercraft lacks competence in hovercraft, they can still operate the vehicle, but with the following effects:
    -Travel speeds (of every TE) are reduced to 25%
    -Any TE travel speed that lists "with roll" cannot be used

Hovercraft & Terrain     When driven properly, hovercraft do not contact the ground. As such, they are unaffected by the "softness" of any terrain, and can even travel over deep water. If any reduction in Terrain Ease is caused by terrain consistency rather than obstacles or slope, hovercraft ignore this and treat it as a greater TE, as determined by the GM. This typically means that swamps, tundra wet fields, sand dunes, and other "squishy" terrain is treated as TE4 or TE3 instead. Rough terrain zone traits arising from such terrain have no effect on hovercraft in combat either.
    Hovercraft can typically treat open water as TE4; weather that creates large waves may reduce TE.
